Office of the Chief Economist (OCE), U.S. Patent and Trade Office (USPTO)
Addx subject-matter experts conduct econometric and statistical analyses to support the Chief Economist’s aggressive economic research agenda relating Intellectual Property (IP) protection and enforcement to policy and national economic outcomes. They also help USPTO meet statutory obligations to advise the president and the administration on IP policy. As part of this effort, Addx has conducted a patent renewal/citation analysis, conducted a survival analysis for an international patent study, and helped quantify how prior use rights affect innovation in a range of industrialized nations.
Understanding Dynamics of Innovation and Trade, Census Center for Economic Studies / USPTO OCE
Combining expert-system techniques and abductive logic programming, Addx is developing algorithms and designing semantic ontologies, fusing decades of patent and census data to create a public-use data product. This product will help shed light on job creation and economic sensitivities for policy and help states and localities foster and attract innovative firms at little cost.
Energy Information Administration (EIA), Department of Energy (DOE)
Addx energy analysts studied the composition of U.S. and foreign energy sources and reserves; proposed formulas for modeling energy production and demand theories; and researched models that poorly predicted energy production demand or cost.
